The logging of Tasmania's native forests releases massive amounts of greenhouse gases. One more reason to protect Tasmania's forests! A real climate change solution.

While I totally agree with a stop to old growth logging and protection of high conservation value forest, I can't support linking this cause with greenhouse gas abatement. From the evidence I have seen it seems to me that forestry has a slight net medium to longterm benefit towards greenhouse gas abatement. Essentially the net extraction of wood and paper products from the forest is removing carbon from the the atmosphere.
