The logging of Tasmania's native forests releases massive amounts of greenhouse gases. One more reason to protect Tasmania's forests! A real climate change solution.
Forests for Climate Change
I think Tassy forest policy is a bit distorted, especially clearing native forest to grow plantation, thats just plainly wrong. However from a carbon perspective logging forests, old growth, plantation or otherwise isn't even on the radar when it comes to greenhouse. I can appreciate the need to keep pushing the issue of forest conservation - but climate change solutions start in your own house, not in the forests. Turn a light off, ride to work, buy green power, promote renewables, focus on the real issues - use your time and energy to bring greenhouse polluters to account and don't the confuse the issues.
